Hartwell Planning LLC, founded in 1996 by Sheila Walker Hartwell, provides fee-only financial planning to couples, families, small business owners, divorced and widowed women. We are based in New York City and can work with you in person or by telephone consultation.

How We Work
A financial plan is a process rather than a product. Hartwell Planning is your trusted partner in the process of managing your finances.

We are a financial planning company. We do not take money under management nor do we sell investment or insurance products or accept commissions from those who do. Every decision we make is in your best interests.

Our fee you pay us is based solely on the services we provide. We offer three financial plan options as well as consultations by the hour.

Once we assess your needs, we can consult with team members you already have in place or we can recommend people we work with. We form a team of trustworthy independent associates around our clients according to each client's needs, which may include a financial advisor, an insurance professional, a year-round tax accountant, an estate-planning lawyer, a real estate broker, a mortgage broker and possibly a business succession consultant.

As your knowledgeable partner in this process, we at Hartwell Planning will oversee with you the actions and interactions of each professional's work to make sure that each team member continues to serve you well.

SHEILA WALKER HARTWELL earned an MBA from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business and a Certificate in Financial Planning from New York University's Center for Finance, Law and Taxation. She is a CFP candidate.

Before becoming a personal financial planner, she was an executive vice president with McCaffrey & McCall, Inc., where she was an account manager for Fortune 500 companies.

Ms. Hartwell is a member of the national Financial Planning Association and an active member in the FPA chapter of New York City.
